Artist Statement

This work is a diptych in a larger series. The first image “Waiting on a Hunting Post for Something to Happen” was taken on a day where I spent hours atop of a hunting platform waiting for a squadron of hawks to appear. I observed starting at noon until, finally as the sun was going down the hawks flew over the horizon line and into my frame. The second image “The World is a Fungus” was taken after spending some time staring up at the underbelly of mushrooms. As I stared, I started to notice a landscape happening amongst the mushroom itself that echoed the shapes of the trees surrounding it. In my solidarity I often find I talk to myself, but no one responds, these spiritual excursions allow myself to manifest these ideas into the visual medium.
